Should I move out during the renovation?

Yes for whole-house projects involving rewires, replumbs and structural openings. The dust and disruption are not livable for 8–16 weeks. For room-by-room work most clients stay in.

How do I know what to spend on what?

We give you a category-by-category cost breakdown — structure, services, kitchen, bathrooms, finishes — so you can see where the money's going. Most clients underspend on services (the boring but expensive stuff that lasts 25 years) and overspend on visible finishes that date faster.

Can I keep some existing features (fireplaces, floorboards)?

Yes — we encourage it on period properties. Restored Victorian floorboards, original cornicing and cast iron fireplaces are usually worth the extra labour to keep. We'll flag what's worth saving on the survey.

How long does a renovation take?

Single floor: 8–10 weeks. Whole house, no extension: 12–16 weeks. Whole house with extension: 16–24 weeks. Listed buildings or specialist heritage work: longer.

Will the price change as we go?

Only via written change orders that you sign off. The contract price stays put unless you make a deliberate scope change.

A whole-house renovation is the right call when individual rooms have aged at different rates and you want to stop the cycle of one-off projects. We approach renovation as a single coordinated programme: structural changes first, services second, finishes last — sequenced so trades aren't undoing each other's work.
